6x6 photographic negative processed with lake water collected from site.

Ngungara is the Ngunawal name for what is known as Lake George. Ngungara means ‘flat water’ and is a significant site for the Ngunawal/Ngunnawal people.

This photograph was created while visiting the eastern shores of the endorheic lake with Ngunawal custodian Tyronne Bell in April 2021. The late summer rains had begun to fill Ngungara and the energy of the site was palpable.

This work was acquired by Canberra Museum and Gallery in 2021.
