35mm photographic negative processed with ocean water collected from site.

This encounter was photographed off the coast of Narooma (Walbunja Country, Yuin Nation) during the whales’ southwards migration last spring.

A constellation of salt crystals adorn the sky and a sweep of salt residue across the middle of the photograph serendipitously resembles the outline of a dolphin. I guess the dolphin didn’t want to be left out of the image!

The artist acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters which on (and with) she creates her work. 5% of profits from the sale of this work is contributed back to organisations supporting the vitality of Walbunja / Yuin Country.
