Sammy graduated with First Class Honours from Sydney College of the Arts in 2015. She went on to work as a freelance documentary video-maker for four years returning to her art practice during the 2020 COVID lockdown.

Since 2019 Sammy has had four critically acclaimed solo-shows in the ACT, with her 2021 exhibition 'Acts of Co-Creation' a recipient of a Canberra Critics Circle Award for photography. Works from these shows have been acquired by the Canberra Museum & Gallery, the ACT Legislative Assembly and sold widely to private national and international collections. Her work has been exhibited at the National Museum of Australia, Canberra Museum & Gallery, Canberra Contemporary Art Space and as part of the 2022 Canberra Art Biennial.

Sammy is a finalist in the 2024 National Photography Prize (March-September 2024), invited to showcase a series of works alongside 14 other finalists. In 2023 her work ‘Caterpillars in Metamorphosis' was the winner of the Canberra Contemporary Photographic Prize and she was also a finalist in the 2023 Bowness Prize (Museum of Australian Photography). In 2022 Sammy was the winner of the Mullins Conceptual Photography Prize with her work ‘Mount Gulaga' acquired by Muswellbrook Regional Art Centre. Sammy has been artist in residence at the CORRIDOR project (2023-4), Woollahra Gallery (2024) and PhotoAccess (2021).

Sammy is currently working towards a solo-show at Goulburn Regional Gallery (November - February 2024-5) and Orange Regional Gallery (2025) and a residency & solo show at Tweed Regional Gallery (2025).
