ANNIE HAMILTON: KITCHEN

Video created by Sammy Hawker.

Annie & I shot this while staying in her grandma’s alpine lodge on Lake Jindabyne - waking up each morning to chase mist in the snow covered mountains. Annie waltzed around in her little silk number while my fingertips froze on the drone remote. It begin to snow and a thick silence fell. We drunk black coffee to warm up in a cafe looking out at the car park of the snowfield. I like the contrast of the weird blue melancholy of the frozen lake to the iconic russet red of the Australian late afternoon sun on the wooden walls. This clip has barely been graded - these colours are true of the world we were in.

ANNIE HAMILTON: MY NEW TATTOOED CHAMELEON

Video created by Sammy Hawker.

I was in a hyper-aware, slightly disorientated post vipassana state the evening of filming this ... I feel a mood that worked its way into the footage. We drunk mezcal, ate pizza and filmed from the back of a snail-pace moving ute. Annie & I wanted the camera to be its own curious character - frenetic and alive, chasing what existed beyond the action of the frame. Though being multi-layered it was important to me the edit was raw and organic. I had filmed the opening (almost full) moon shot from my bedroom window a few days before. At that time of year it passes over the Austinmer escarpment around 5am in the morning. It just felt right for the clip. A lot of the overlays are shots of moving water, or sunlight dancing on water, overlayed on the footage via a reduced opacity.
